Welcome Hoppers.
Once again, we have driving instructions to help you make it to all the shops on the Bluebonnet Patchwork Shop Hop. We don’t like to back track, and are not too crazy about Interstates, so we will try to do as little of these as possible. We begin at Creations and make the complete circle. It doesn’t matter where you start, just follow our directions and you will make the full circle.
We have done our best to give you clear directions, but there is always construction, sign changes and who knows what else. Use your common sense, and be sure and have the phone numbers of all the shops with you. You may also want to check out our Locations page for visual maps and additional shop information.
Have a great time, but above all….a safe trip.
Leaving Creations and heading to The Cotton Cupboard in Lakeway
1503-A RR620 North 512-294-2776
Take Main Street, or Highway 27 from Creations, heading west thru 3 stop lights. Turn Right at our Courthouse which is Hwy 16. You will be going about 20 miles to Fredericksburg. You won’t find any bluebonnets between Kerrville and Fredericksburg, but about 3 or 4 miles out of town on your left side you will see a very interesting metal sculpture. It’s a giant deer on top of a “squashed” car. It’s pretty funny, but can be so very true if you are driving especially at night.
Friendship Lane is the first stoplight you will come to. There is a Shell Station on the left. You turn to the Right. Continue on this road and you will eventually come to Hwy 290. You will have to turn one way or the other….go Right. (The La Quinta will be on your left.) The sign says it is Main Street, but it is also Hwy 290.
Now you are headed to Johnson City which is about 30 miles. In about 3 miles you might see some camels on the right side just after the Shell Station. Look for the Buffalo on your left, just past the Lady Bird Johnson Park and Burgs Corner.

It’s about 23 miles to Marble Falls. This is a great ride for viewing bluebonnets. If you need a rest stop, there is one for gas, coffee and bathrooms at Round Mountain in about 10 miles. As you get close to Marble Falls, there will be an overpass for Hwy 71 East. You need to veer to the right and get on 71 East. You are heading towards Austin.
In about 15 miles, look for the Paleface Grocery and a Chevron Station on your left if you need to stop now. Continue on to the junction with 620 and you will turn Left. You know you are close when you come over a hill and see the BIG American Flag on the left. That’s where you are going to turn.
Continue on about 6 miles and you will pass the Lakeway tower on the left. Continue on and thru a light at Kollmeyer Drive. Go thru the light at Debba Drive and be prepared to turn to the right. It sneeks up on you, but this is Oak Grove Plaza just after Debba Drive. Do down into the center and you will see The Cotton Cupboard on your right.
