Working Together
Planning for Shop Hop 2013
There will be 12 shops participating in the Bluebonnet Shop Hop April 11th – 14th, 2013. All the shops meet about 5 times during the year so we can make our hop one of the best in the country.
The 2013 hop will be the 15th Annual Bluebonnet Shop hop. Over the years, we have seen shops join and then leave, but there are still 4 shops that were in the first hop. Our “old timers” are Creations, Las Colchas, Seventh Heaven, and Sew Special.
This past year was our first time to do the Shop Hop quilt as a joint effort with all the shops using the same fabrics in the same blocks. The individual creativity of each shop was shown by the way they set the blocks. Our visitors loved the idea and we will work hard to improve it for 2013 by giving you a chance to view the finished quilts before the hop, and of course, having more block kits available.
All shops thank you for your support and hope you will plan to visit each of us during the hop in April 2013. |

Lori and Nancy
With the 2012 Bluebonnet Patchwork Trail Shop Hop just behind us, we’re already planning for 2013. Our plans will include work toward a new and larger building, still in our quaint little town of Buda, not far from our current shop. We hope to be moved in by the end of the year. In the meantime, you can find us in the same familiar shop, packed with a wide variety of fabrics and other essentials for quilters.
And when it comes to the detailed planning for the event, whether we’re making bouquets of fabric roses or pulling out aprons to wear and vintage kitchen utensils for our bakery displays, our thoughts are always with the sincere hope that we will create a fun and inspiring atmosphere. We’ll make trips to both Spring and Fall Quilt Market this year, and will be on the lookout for great things. The dates for the next hop are set, so mark your calendars and plan to join us in 2013 for another fun time with friends.

I started quilting in my 20's. My sister, MaryAnn, taught me to quilt. It was the dream of me and my sisters to grow old and open a shop. The opportunity arose sooner than we expected and I am now living the dream! We have been open since 2001. The highlight of our year is the Bluebonnet Patchwork Trail Shop Hop! We love seeing customers from near and far. The festive atmosphere and laughter are my favorite parts of the hop.
The number 10 is really big for us this year! Honey Bee Quilt Store is celebrating our 10th year in business! We were also honored to be selected as one of the Top Ten Stores for the May 2012 Quilt Sampler Magazine! We are so thrilled!
The Bluebonnet Shop Hop is a highlight in our year – it’s always such fun! It’s a joy to work with the women who own the stores that participate in the Shop Hop. It is so much fun to prepare the event for you.
We love meeting people who come from all over and look forward to seeing you for many years to come!

We have now completed our 2nd year with The Bluebonnet shop hop. I am constantly amazed at the engery, kindness, and talent I get to see come through our shop. Not only during the shop hop but also throughout the rest of the year. We have been tucked back in the hills of Lakeway, Tx for just about 3 years now and loving every minute of it. Come take the beautiful drive that is well worth it. When you walk through our doors you will be greeted with a smile and given all the attention you can stand. We can meet all your fabric, quilting, sewing, wool, and embroidery needs. If you haven't been out we look forward to meeting you and if you have, then you know it is just like coming home.

The Quilt Haus has been around since 2002 (some of you may remember baby Greta in her bouncing in her exer-saucer - she's TEN years old and five feet tall now!). We have a very large, wide-open, light and bright shop full of all different styles of fabrics, and a great selection of patterns, books, threads, and notions. We're known best for our great selection of modern, contemporary prints, our wall of true solids, our Creative Sewlutions line of original quilt patterns, and our permanent Sale Room, always stocked with 500-800 bolts of top quality fabric from your favorite manufacturers. Our very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff is there seven days a week to help you with your sewing and quilting needs. We are very proud to be home tof the New Braunfels Area Chapter of Project Linus, and an official Drop-off Shop and $1,000 Promise Supporter for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. We host regular sew-ins for both of these causes, too, in addition to monthly Purse Parties, and UFO Sew-Ins. Check out the calendar on our website for upcoming dates, or better yet, follow us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/QuiltHaus) for first notice of all shop sales, events, and other news.

Well 2012 shop hop is now in the past, and we are already moving on to planning for the next event. As always we wish to thank everyone who joined us for shop hop. We always enjoy all of the excitement. I hope each of you had as much fun as we did.
We will continue to try to find new and exciting things for all of our customers, throughout the coming year, new notions, new fabrics, and new ideas yet still try to continue supplying all of the usual sewing needs as well. We hope that we will continue to inspire everyone who visits us to sew and create new and exciting items. Always remember my motto, “Sewing should be fun!”. I still always enjoy myself when I sit down at a sewing machine!
We look forward to seeing everyone throughout the year, and also at 2013 shop hop!

As one of the original shops on the Shop Hop we have had fun for fourteen years finding new ways to make your visit to our shop fun and entertaining. We trans-form our classroom into our "theme" room with decorations, demonstrations and lots of samples and product for sale. Our specially decorated cookies that match our theme are always a favorite for all of the hoppers. Even the bathroom gets a makeover each year, insuring that the entire shop is integrated into the fun.
We like to think our shop continues to inspire everyone throughout the year. We strive to keep samples fresh, and the shop bright with color. Our commitment to the BERNINA line of sewing machines is integrated throughout the store in all our samples, classes and service. We do what we love, and invite all of you to join us by exploring your creativity with all we have to offer.

Well, “Gone Quiltin” made it through our 1st Bluebonnet Shop Hop. We heard from so many people that they had not been to our shop before, but loved it. Some of the hoppers found us last year and were glad I was on the shop hop for 2012. I am half way through my 2nd year of ownership and we continue to build a great store and great relationships with our customers. We are listening to what our customers are asking for in regards to classes and the response has been really great. Our fabric selections continue to grow and we are also growing our westerns and batiks. I’m always on the lookout for new tools and techniques to make quilting easier and more accurate . We love showing new things to you. We have added Janome Sewing Machines and have the new Janome 12,000 and the Artistic Quilter 18.
We are looking forward to 2013’s Shop Hop and continue to plan for the future. Remember that I can long arm quilt your quilt on my Gammill, but we can also teach you to long arm yourself. After you’ve taken the class, then you can rent our machines and finish your own quilt.

Valli & Kim
Valli & Kim opened our doors in November 2010. Two friends with a love for fabric! This is our first year to be on the Bluebonnet Shop Hop and we are looking forward to meeting new customers and friends. As our previous customers can tell you, our store has a bright and cheery feel that we hope inspires anyone who loves to sew and craft.
Kim's fabric background started with a "Martha Stewart" like mother teaching her three daughters (Kim is the baby) how to sew and craft at an early age. You will often find Robbie Downing (THE MOM) working in the store and helping customers find just the right piece of fabric. Ask Kim and she will show you her blue-ribbon dress that she made for the 4-H Dress Revue at the age of nine. Quilting didn't happen until she was in her late 20's, even though both grandmothers and her mom have always quilted.
Valli's fabric obsession started at a young age, building and decorating doll houses at home in Colorado. It extended into her college career as a graduate of University of Texas (Hook 'Em Horns!) with a degree in Interior Design. With her previous experience in product design and decorating, she is the perfect person to ask for assistance when trying to work designs and color in your projects or in your own home decorating ideas. |

Jennifer & Mary Ellen
A Quilter's Folly opened their doors March of 2011. The roots actually started to develop years before as Mary Ellen, a long time quilter and embroidery enthusiast, and Jennifer, part of a family sewing business since the day she was born, embarked a bit ambitiously on a second embroidered quilt block of the month series for the store Jennifer's family owned. Through many trials and many, many errors they discovered an uncanny bond with each other and a desire to one day turn the business into their own version of fun, adventure and even the occasional mis-adventure that one usually encounters while sewing or quilting. Hoping to share, encourage and develop the love of quilting, fabrics and friendship in us all.
This is our first year to join the Bluebonnet Shop Hop and we are sew incredibly excited to be a part of such a fantastic hop. We've always enjoyed the hustle and excitement of hoppers as they get to adventure to sew many wonderful stores. We love machine embroidery and quilting and try to put that twist on many things we do. We try to carry a little bit of everything as we love it all!! Look forward to meeting each and everyone of you this upcoming year!! |
